Redseer Benchmarks

The measurement standard for India's consumer internet.

Redseer has measured this market since 2018. Benchmarks is how that work reaches the teams who run it: a monthly reading of every tracked category and platform, prepared for your business and written in your own categories.

What clients receive

A reading of the market, not a wall of filters.

A written brief, every month

The month read top down in your categories: what moved, where your share went, what it means for you, what to watch next, and what to do about it. Each sentence carries the finding it rests on, and each finding opens to the model behind it.

The market, at every cut

Category to subcategory to brand, by platform and by channel, month, quarter and half year, with city tier and payment mix where the panels carry them. Your names, not ours.

The months ahead

A single modelled line for the quarter ahead, built from momentum, seasonality and the platforms' own signals. No confidence bands, and the model's record is published against what actually happened.

Your own workbook

The monthly Excel you receive today, generated from the same numbers in the same layout, alongside the note as a designed PDF and Word document.

What is tracked.

Benchmarks carries the sectors Redseer models every month. A sector that is wired but awaiting its models shows its readiness until the first publication.

Sectors

Overall online retail and beauty and personal care are live. Fashion, mobiles and electronics, grocery and quick commerce, home and furniture, and books and general merchandise are wired for their models.

Platforms

The horizontals, the verticals and the quick-commerce apps that carry the market, each read in its own category names and reconciled to one classification.

Cuts

Category, subcategory and brand. Platform and channel. Month, quarter and half year. City tier and payment mix where the panels support them.

Method

How a number earns its place.

The discipline behind the reading is the product. Nothing is published that has not been modelled, checked, approved and traced.

  1. 01

The category teams model the month

Redseer's sector analysts maintain one model per platform and category, refreshed every month against panels, statements and primary work.

  2. 02

Every upload is checked before it lands

Structure, totals and continuity are validated, and the new version is compared with the last one line by line. Material changes to published history need a sector lead's approval before anything is published.

  3. 03

One taxonomy sits behind every number

Each platform's categories map into a single Redseer classification, and each client's own definitions map onto that. The same number can be read in three vocabularies without being restated.

  4. 04

The reading is written from the findings

Detectors run across the warehouse and score what is material for that client. The brief is written from those findings only, so nothing in the prose is unsourced.

  5. 05

    The record is kept

Forecasts are scored against outturns at category, subcategory and brand level, and the accuracy is reported to the partners who present the work.

Read differently by each client.

The same market, prepared against the question each subscriber actually brings to it.

Marketplaces and platforms

Where your share is moving, which categories and subcategories are carrying the market, and what quick commerce is taking from you.

Brands

Where demand for your categories sits across platforms, how your brands rank on each panel, and which lines are moving fastest.

Investors

How the market and its segments compound, which platforms are gaining, and how the companies you hold or watch track against them.
